My Math Class

Sometimes in my math class I feel like I am the smartest person in the room. It's like basic math for example 2+2=4 so basic. It makes me so mad know that it's so easy. I've always liked a little challenge in my life. And I know that I hate math and how much it sucks but seriously? I kind of wish that it would get just a little bit harder then 2+2=4. I know that there are some people that don't actually know it, but since I do I don't understand why I have to take it. For Pete's sake I was in advanced math in High School and it was way harder then the stuff I'm working on now. Sometimes it's unreal to me cause I can't believe that I'm in basic math. I talked to a guy in my class today and he's in the same boat as me understands everything and can't believe he's in this class. He say he thinks it's cause of the placement test. That test is kinda stupid if you ask me. Why do we have to take one why not just judge by our grades from high school. Yes I know so people came back to higher there education so they should take it not the ones who just graduated High School and sort of know a little bit about what's going on. I was expecting college to be harder after being a PSEOP student but truthfully it just got really easier and it's driving me bonkers because I really wish that it wasn't so simple. I need that little challenge to keep me going instead of making me want to fall asleep every time my professor is teaching.

  1. I know what you mean. In my math class I;m not the smartest, but I understand what she is teaching. It's been thirteen years since I was in high school and I was in some of the top math classes, too. It is nice to have a refresher couse for me though. I have always done really well with math. It just comes so naturally with me. I can't believe I waited so long to go back to school. I will end up taking some form of math class every semester due to my majors. I've always loved school and could probably go forever. I think learning something new is important to a persons well being. I'm sure you will do just fine even though you are board most of the time, and the classes will get harder for you as you progress. At least you have someone in you class to consult with about the material and how you already understand it. If you get along with other students in your class maybe you could help them out if they are struggling and aren't understanding the way she is teaching the material.

    1. That is very true, me just graduating and being in Pre-Cal and then going back down to basics makes me feel really silly. But I am really glad that you decided to come back to school. My mom told me that I had to go to college because there is always a need for something in this world. And only having a high school education will only get me low paying job. I want to clean teeth for a leaving which is wierd becuase I have a wierd obsession with them only because there different like me and no one has the same kind of teeth and I like that. But I do enjoying know that in math if anyone really needs help that I can because I pretty much know the information and that it would be easy for me to help them out if they really want me to teach them.

  2. Hey Alexa. I’m in the same position you are in! I am in the basic math as well. I understand most of the stuff that my teacher is teaching us. I also feel really stupid being in this class. I have to take three maths’s to qualify for my major, nursing. I know a lot of other people in my class that feel ridiculous being in this class. I agree with your thoughts on the placement taste. I think they should look at our grades throughout high school and see where we fall with that. I mean sitting through my math class now I want to fall asleep, it is so boring. I know that some people really do need this class but I also feel there is a better way of testing us to see if we should even be taking the course. I also think college is equal to or easier than high school. It is a lot of studying but honestly that really all it is, studying and exams. I don’t see how I could get less than a 4.0 out of my college courses. I also need that challenge in my math class. I feel like I just do the assignments that my teacher gives me without any hesitation. I wish it was harder. Or I just simply wish I didn’t even have to take any math classes. I wish you luck with the remaining courses you have to take and I hope it gets harder and more challenging for you.

    1. Right!!! At least I know that I'm not the only one who thinks that. It's not like I don't like math it's just when it's so easy that I don't really care to pay attention, because it just bores me. I like having that little challenge like how to find x and everything. I also understand that sometimes people need to start off in basic so they can inprove and go on to the harder math. But like you said it's really not hard to get a 4.0 in college when your a taking basic classes that you already learned in high school, only because your major calls for those credits. It's almost like if they would have looked at my high school grades and saw how good I was in school maybe I wouldn't have to take the basics again just because of the silly placement test. And thank you for the luck wishing I hope that it does get a little bit more challenging as you progress, but I also wish you the best of luck through out the semesters because you are more then likely a super smart person and you will go far as a nurse.
